📐 The 2/3 Rule — Standard Overhangs Only

For island and peninsula overhangs, at least 2/3 of the countertop must rest on the cabinet. The overhang cannot exceed half of what is supported.

Raised bar top note: The 2/3 rule does not apply to raised bar tops on knee walls or half walls. Support is required at all overhang depths for these configurations.
